Welcome to the online portfolio of Mitchell Vice.

I began my career in the commercial arts like many... as a stripper making my way through college. From a stripper, I moved up the ranks to plate-maker, to typesetter and finally illustrator and graphic artist, all before I ever heard the word "desktop publishing." To stay competitive, I bought my own Mac, crashed it several times, and learned PageMaker and Illustrator. After learning HTML 1.0 and failing to convince my employer at the time that this "Internet thing" could be a big deal, I left the short-sighted, yet award-winning agency for a 3-man "interactive" shop that was creating marketing campaigns, interactive brochures and product demonstrations on floppy disk and CD-ROM for clients such as HealthRider and ICON Fitness, Simmons Media, Campus Pipeline, Iomega, Freightliner, Companion Technologies, Modem Media and The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter Day Saints.

As the Internet became a more robust delivery mechanism, we took our rich-media campaigns and presentations from the CD-ROM to data-driven and dynamic web sites. I have never been a "programmer", however I am a "geek" and I understand the syntax, logic and abilities of programming to the point of being able to shape the technological methods of any given project. I can drive a project from conception, through the creative process and through its technological methodology, troubleshooting all the way.

We had a great run as the valley's first interactive agency which culminated with a merger with the valley's largest, privately-held advertising agency. This merger helped us thrive during the "dot-bomb" with clients such as the Salt Lake Olympic Committee, Utah Department of Transportation, JP Morgan/Chase Bank, Sun Valley Resort and Solitude Ski Resort.

After several years at the agency, I left the industry all-together to pursue other interests while maintaining a few freelance clients like Knucklehead Music, Mountain America Credit Union, Stephens Audio, Peace Drum Company, Venus Touch and various local businesses to keep my creativity keen and technology sharp.
